The Messenger, December 2014 – January 2015

As we get closer and closer to Christmas the world will try selling us on the idea that the best gift…; the most important gift…; the most appreciated gift…; will be purchased at their store.
But for followers of Jesus at Christmastime we remember, and celebrate, the greatest, most wonderful gift we have ever received; Jesus the Christ…

What are you doing to withdraw and talk with God?
Stop and think about this: If we are seeking to follow Jesus can we do less than he did for maintaining our spiritual needs?!
We need time to withdraw and pray.
If you cannot remember the last time you just spent time being with God; then take a few minutes right now, be still, and pray.

The Messenger, October 2014

As Christians, from time to time, I think we need to reflect on some questions that have to do with our level of commitment; such as these:
What does it mean to be a disciple of Jesus Christ?
What does the Lord expect of me?
What “holy habits” should I cultivate in my life?

Evil isn’t just an abstract idea, but a personal issue; as Jesus says it flows from the inner self…
In his letter to the Christians in Rome Paul wrote about the personal struggle of choosing between evil and good…
If we wish to see a reduction of evil in this world then we need to do two things; first seek out Jesus who is the only one who can deliver us from it, and then work for a society and a world that seeks to establish God’s righteousness, justice and freedom for the oppressed.
