It is the act of loving, that makes a church a place of welcome
With the new year quickly tucked behind us, we are in full swing heading through the chill of winter. It is 9 degrees outside as I write this, and I am warm and snug in my office at church. The heat makes its way from Kathy’s office to mine to the rest of the building. Thank you God for all of those who are faithful in keeping our church in tip-top shape! But it is Paul who reminds us that although we may have a wonderful place of worship ready and prepared to welcome others, it is our hearts, that need to be as well. In Paul’s letter to the church at Corinth, chapter 13 vs. 2, he states,
It is the act of loving, that makes a church a place of welcome, a place filled with the love of God. Especially when it is with those who God puts us in relationship with, even when it is not easy. Let us make a point this February to pray the prayer of love, the “Lord’s Prayer” and let those whom we pray for know we are praying for them as we send this love message instead of a valentine this year. Oh my, what will the card companies do when we forgo spending the $6 to send a sappy card, when instead we can send a life changing message of love.
May you appreciate those around you as I am of all of you, we are blessed to be in a faith community that has continued to be vital in a time of great trial. Thank you for your patience and your dedication, know you are loved!
Blessings,
Pastor Beth
