Native American Ministries Sunday
Native American Ministries Sunday, one of six special Sundays, serves to remind United Methodists of the gifts and contributions made by Native Americans to our society. We affirm the sacredness of American Indian people, their languages, cultures, and gifts to the church and the world.
We have the special opportunity to welcome Perry Ground of the Onondaga Nation, Turtle Clan to our worship on Sunday, April 23rd at 10:00 am (note the special time). Perry will take part in our service in full, traditional regalia, and will be around after the service to answer questions you may have. Perry has a special connection with the Methodist Church as his great-Grandfather was a minister at the Onondaga Methodist Church for about 70 years before he passed away. In addition, Native American Ministries Sunday is one of six “special Sundays” in the United Methodist Church where an offering is received. United Methodists observe this Sunday specifically to support leadership development, ministries by and with, and education of Native Americans in our denomination. Look for a special offering envelope in your bulletin on April 23rd, or visit our giving page and click on the “give online” button.
