It is with both grief and joy that we announce the passing of long-time member, Dr. Myrtle A. Merritt – “Myrt” to us – on Tuesday, July 30th.  She was an integral part of the Geneseo United Methodist Church for over seven decades, serving on committees from the Board of Trustees, and Finance, to the Welcoming Committee, serving as Youth Leader, and just about anywhere else that needed something done.  Myrt was a great supporter of both our youth, and our music ministry.  She will be sorely missed.

A Christian “death” is such a strange dichotomy of emotions.  We mourn the loss of our friend, and yet, at the same time, we celebrate her arrival in heaven, with the sure knowledge that we will se her again.

Calling hours for Myrt will be held at the Rector Hicks Funeral Home, 111 Main Street, Geneseo, on Sunday, August 4th, 2024, from  1:00 – 4:00 pm.  A memorial/celebration of life service will take place here at Geneseo UMC, 4520 Genesee Street (Rt. 63), Geneseo, NY on Monday, August 5th, at 11:00, followed by a luncheon reception.
