Christmas Blessings
Dear Geneseo United Methodist Church Family and Friends,
The blessed season of Christmas is upon us! This is the season in which we are reminded of the greatest blessing ever given, when God sent Jesus to the earth to carry out the greatest rescue in all of history—the gracious, merciful redemption of humanity. Out of that gift flows every blessing we enjoy as the people of God.
Part of that blessing is that God has gathered us to form a community of Christ-followers. I’m so grateful for what God is doing in and through Geneseo United Methodist Church! As I think of the Miracle of the Christmas Story, I think of the many people from our church family who are, in some way, serving God by taking care of others, not to mention those who serve week in and week out in the ongoing ministries of the church.
We firmly believe that each person has a valuable part to play in the church, and your participation is critical to our disciple-making gospel mission. How critical that mission is in light of the brokenness of our world. Over the past year, so many have sacrificed their resources in order to accomplish what God has called us to as a church. That means that every moment spent in service and every kind of support given is important and is used by God to transform lives for eternity and to ultimately bring more glory to God.
We have enjoyed many blessings this year as we have celebrated 200 years as a church. God has generously provided for the needs of the ministry of Geneseo United Methodist Church. God is at work and we have the most incredible privilege to be part of God’s love in the world.
The birth of a child is the best proof of God’s love. Every time a human being comes into the world, the creative power of God reveals itself and makes us better, makes us a partner, revealing how much God honors and favors humanity. The supreme expression of divine love is none other than the human birth of God’s son Jesus. “God loved the world so much that He gave His only son, so that everyone who believes in Him has eternal life” John 3:16”.
As children of God we will never wander in darkness but in light. We have been experiencing this light in our church in love shared, friends greeted and welcomed anew. I pray you are feeling blessed this season, and know that we are here for each other in the difficult times as well.
May the joy of Christmas penetrate your hearts and souls, may you feel the love of God and continue to strive to make the world a better place as Christ’s Chosen and as peacemakers.
I am feeling blessed to be your pastor, Darren and I wish you and yours the very best this Christmas and New Year.
Yours in Christ,
Pastor Beth
