Get Back to “It”
There is an almost sadness that takes place as we move from August to September. The days are getting shorter, the daylight less every day, the evenings cooler, the colors showing on the edge of the trees. I remember feeling almost panicked as we moved from the endless hot summer days of freedom in flip-flops and activity when I was a child, to the regimen of bedtimes, and school schedules. It all takes place when it should, there is an order to life that is true, as the author of Ecclesiastes 3, tells us,
“A Time for everything and a season for very activity under the heavens.”
The same is true about the rest of our lives, when we trust God, then the order of our lives, is timely. So when I say, it is time to “get back to it,” I am aware that many of us have enjoyed spending time with family and friends, doing activities that had been put off for a few years. I heard story upon story this summer of vacations, sightseeing, catching up with family. I even did a little of that myself, however, the time has come to “get back to it.” The “it” I am referring to is attending worship, sharing a story at coffee hour, growing in your faith at a bible study, having some good, clean fun at youth group, stretching your voice in choir. And most of all listening to where God is leading us on the journey called faith. There are also some new things happening at GUMC… smell the fresh paint?… you’re on candid camera… check out our new website… come meet our new friends… God is good! Oh yeah!
The Excitement is building. Can you feel it? …there is something coming…
It is time to Come Back To Church!
May you sense God working in your lives and receive God’s many blessings,
Pastor Beth
