New Here?
We look forward to meeting you soon (and we have a small gift for you when we do!)
We here at Geneseo United Methodist Church strive to follow in Jesus’ footsteps as a welcoming, caring, giving, and prayerful community of faith.
We do so in a variety of ways, and invite you to join us in drawing closer to Christ and living out His commandments.
Worship and Praise Service – Sundays at 8:30 am
Our non-traditional service opens with songs led by our Praise Band of guitars, piano, drums and vocals. The service includes a Biblically-based sermon, as well as a children’s message, and community prayer time. Dress is casual.
Traditional Worship, Sundays at 10:30 – Our traditional service includes a Biblically-based sermon, children’s message, and community prayer time. Hymns are accompanied by piano or our pipe organ and an anthem is provided by our choir. Liturgical readings are incorporated into the service.
Junior Church, for children 3 years – 2nd grade, takes place during the first service following the Children’s Moment, in Room 8 (turn right out of the Sanctuary). It is especially geared for younger children. It includes songs, games, and bible study.
Child Care is available for children, birth through 3 years, between 8:30 and 11:30 am, in the Nursery (turn right out of the Sanctuary).
Accessibility
Sunday School is offered between our two services. We offer classes for children of pre-school age through high school, and adults.
Bible Studies and book/DVD studies are offered at various times during the week and throughout the year. These studies are open to ALL – you do not need to be a member of the church or to even worship here to attend a class or study.
The Prayer Chain – The church maintains a prayer chain of members who, when notified, will lift up the specific prayer needs of whomever requests. Prayers are kept confidential unless otherwise directed.
Praying for each other – Prayer needs are listed weekly in the bulletin and shared during a time of “Joys and Concerns” during both worship services.
Prayer Room – Our Prayer Room is set apart just for prayer. This room is open to anyone whenever the church is open. Prayer requests can be left there at any time.
Prayer for outside groups that use the church building – Outside groups have been invited to share prayer requests with us.
Prayer Requests – If you have a prayer request you would like us to pray for, please contact us by phone at (585) 243-3160, or via email.
We invite you to get involved in a variety of programs and ministries here at Geneseo UMC. We have many opportunities to give of your time and talents through sharing and caring. You can find our mission partners locally, nationally, and world-wide. Everything from the Geneseo Parish Outreach Center (a medical clinic run by volunteers in our facilities), to Operation Christmas Child, which shares Christmas gifts and the Good News of Jesus Christ with children around the world. You can find out more about many of our mission partners on our “Ministries” page.
On Sundays, we gather together for fellowship between services. Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea or some lemonade or punch and get to know the people who are Geneseo UMC.
Other fellowship opportunities occur throughout the year. Check our Calendar, join our Facebook page for notification of upcoming fellowship events, or visit our Events page for recent offerings.
