Our Mission
We here at Geneseo United Methodist Church strive to follow in Jesus’ footsteps as a welcoming, caring, giving, and prayerful community of faith.
We do so in a variety of ways, and invite you to join us in drawing closer to Christ and living out His commandments.
Worship
Sunday Morning Worship at 9:30 am
Our Combined Worship Service includes a Biblically-based sermon, children’s message, and community prayer time. Liturgical readings are also incorporated into the service.
Each Sunday, music is provided by our Chancel Choir, accompanied by piano or our pipe organ, and our Praise Band of guitars, piano, and vocals. Our bell choir, the Righteous Ringers, and our Youth Choir also join us periodically.
Our doors are open to all, and we invite you to dress in a way that’s most comfortable for you, whether it’s your “Sunday best,” or jeans and a t-shirt. God values the heart over outward appearance!
Junior Church, for children, 3 years – 2nd grade, takes place following the Children’s Moment, in Room 8 (turn right out of the Sanctuary). It is especially geared for younger children. It includes songs, games, and bible study.
Child Care is available for children, birth through 3 years, between 9:15 and 10:45 am, in the Nursery (turn right out of the Sanctuary).
Accessibility
- We have level, off-street parking, with several parking spaces set aside for physically impaired people.
- The church building is all on one level, making it accessible to all.
- There is a Telecoil/Hearing Loop in our Sanctuary and Fellowship Hall for those with T-coil equipped hearing aids.
Growing
Growing in our walk with God is an important part of who we are.
Children’s Sunday School, for Pre-school age through High School, is held on the third Sunday of the month after Children’s Moment, around 9:45 am.
Adult Sunday School, led by Pastor Beth, follows the service at 10:45 am, except for the first Sunday of the month.
Bible Studies and book/DVD studies are offered at various times during the week and throughout the year. These studies are open to ALL – you do not need to be a member of the church or to even worship here to attend a class or study.
Praying
Prayer is a vital part of our faith community.
The Prayer Chain – The church maintains a prayer chain of members who, when notified, will lift up the specific prayer needs of whomever requests. Prayers are kept confidential unless otherwise directed.
Praying for each other – Prayer needs are listed weekly in the bulletin and shared during a time of “Joys and Concerns” during both worship services.
Prayer Room – Our Prayer Room is set apart just for prayer. This room is open to anyone whenever the church is open. Prayer requests can be left there at any time.

Serving
We live out our faith in many ways – locally, nationally, and around the world.
We invite you to get involved in a variety of programs and ministries here at Geneseo UMC. We have many opportunities to give of your time and talents through sharing and caring. You can find our mission partners locally, nationally, and world-wide. Everything from the Geneseo Parish Outreach Center (a medical clinic run by volunteers in our facilities), to Operation Christmas Child, which shares Christmas gifts and the Good News of Jesus Christ with children around the world. Fellowship
We take time to get to know each other better:
On Sundays, we gather together for fellowship after the service. Enjoy a cup of coffee or tea or some lemonade or punch and get to know the people who are Geneseo UMC.
